Image of adipose in zebrafish: Minchin laboratory
The Metabolism Theme at the Centre for Cardiovascular Sciences, QMRI brings together clinical and basic scientists with an interest in the physiology and pathophysiology of metabolic processes relevant to obesity, diabetes and cardiovascular disease. This covers development, genetics and epigenetics, mature function and pathogenesis (e.g. Inflammation), through to regeneration and transplant of organs that are central to metabolic homeostasis: adipose (visceral, marrow, brown), liver, heart, pancreatic islets and lymphoid tissue. The aim of the Metabolism Theme is to act as a forum for cross-disciplinary collaborations.
