Professor Keith A A Fox is Duke of Edinburgh Professor of Cardiology of the University of Edinburgh, .
Previous posts he has held include British Heart Foundation Professor of Cardiology, Consultant Cardiologist in the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh, Assistant Professor of Internal Medicine and Cardiology at Washington University School of Medicine, St Louis, USA, and Senior Lecturer in Cardiology and Honorary Consultant Cardiologist at the University of Wales College of Medicine, Cardiff. Head of Division of Medical and Radiological Sciences of the University of Edinburgh (until 2010).
Professor Fox is currently Chair of the Scientific and Clinical Programme of the European Society of Cardiology (2012 - 2014) and was a founding fellow of the European Society of Cardiology and has served as a Board member and lead for ischaemic heart disease on the Scientific Committee for the ESC Programme. He was President of the British Cardiovascular Society (2009 - 2012). He has given State-of-the-Art presentations on the topic of acute coronary syndromes at the American Heart Association and key plenary lectures at the American College of Cardiology, the European Society of Cardiology and all major international meetings. He was awarded the Silver Medal of the European Society of Cardiology in 2010 for his contributions to cardiology.
Professor Fox's major research interests are in the mechanisms and manifestations of acute coronary arterial disease and his work extends from underlying biological mechanisms to in vivo study and clinical trials. He is the recipient of various awards including those associated with keynote lectures at major congresses.
He is the author of more than 600 publications His publications have been widely cited (n=30,261 by March 2013, H index 73).
